A damp bathroom is the perfect breeding ground for unhealthy mould & mildew. Eliminate bathroom moisture by simply fitting a Showerdome® shower top, and you'll instantly see the benefits of a warmer, drier bathroom.
Fitting a Showerdome® makes the shower nice and cosy because the warm air created by the shower rose is contained in the shower cubicle. The hot water tap can be turned down to bring the temperature back to a comfortable level. Typical reduction is 10-15% even in winter.
Result: You can finally enjoy a shower where you don’t have to huddle yourself into the water stream just to stay warm! Plus cost savings achieved by reducing hot water consumption and extractor fan running costs.
Use less water
You can now enjoy the savings from using less water and energy by fitting a water conservation shower head or regulator - and still enjoy a warm cosy shower by fitting a Showerdome®. The addition of a Showerdome® in conjunction with a flow regulator to your shower will result in a surprisingly fast payback on costs - and help to conserve valuable water resources.
Many showers use 15 - 20 litres of water per minute. With the addition of a flow regulator or a low flow shower head, considerable savings will be made. There is a lot of evidence showing that typical families can save over 20,000 litres per year.
Reduce energy costs
Everything you do in your home uses energy. When you shower without a Showerdome®, you’ll naturally turn the hot water up to make it warmer because you’re dealing with cold air mixing with the warm air. To remedy this, you’ll run the extractor fan to deal with the steam that is created.
With the Showerdome® you can shut the extractor fan off, close the window, and use less hot water to stay warm while you shower. Added to that is the saving gained from not heating so much water, and heating it to a lower temperature within your shower cubicle. The savings are considerable.
Stop mould & mildew
Eliminating moisture laden air from your bathroom is one of the key benefits of installing a Showerdome®. All that steam rolling around in your bathroom, settling on your walls and along the grout is creating a breeding ground for unhealthy mould, mildew and fungus. Unless you deep clean and scrub every surface daily, then you already have a problem. With Showerdome®, you don’t have these steam issues anymore. No more mould, mildew or fungus means a much healthier bathroom, and less requirement to use harsh chemicals for cleaning.
Result: Ecologically better, substantially reduces cleaning time and the associated cleaning materials cost
Warm, dry homes are much healthier
With mould and mildew growth, you get spores that travel through the home. The excess spores can make breathing difficult and weaken immune systems so your family gets sick more often. Moisture feeds dust mites which are recognized as the cause of many health problems such as asthma in children, and rheumatics in elderly.
By simply fitting a Showerdome®, you will immediately improve the air quality in your home.
Moisture on bathroom tiles & floors can be dangerous. With steam creating excess moisture, it’s much more likely that you or a member of your family, might slip and fall as they get out of the shower. Keep that moisture in its place, and your family safe with Showerdome®.
Condensation on your ceilings & walls in your bathroom will damage paint, and encourage the growth of unsightly mould & mildew. By containing the moisture in the shower cubicle, you eliminate the need for constant cleaning & redecorating in the bathroom & surrounding rooms. Moisture damage also harms wood finishes & stains, flooring and other surfaces in the bathroom. Many modern homes have an ensuite off the bedrooms. Moisture from the showers permeates the bedroom making carpets, drapes, bedding, and clothing damp. Showerdome® stops all shower generated steam.
Result: This reduces overall maintenance requirements and is especially smart for rental properties where tenants don’t always dry the bathroom out, or worry about damage from poor ventilation.

Depending on the size of the area you are attempting to cover – there are a couple of options.
If your shower cubicle is only slightly larger than 1200mm, then it’s recommended to use a flat sheet of acrylic with an ‘H’ shaped jointer rail. The flat sheets come at 400mm wide, so this option is good to cover up to 1600mm shower cubicles.
If you are attempting to cover a space larger than 1600mm, in some instances customers have opted to join 2 x Showerdome® shower top units side by side, again using the ‘H’ shaped jointer rail.
Absolutely not. Although there will be some misting on the underside of the Showerdome® shower top (as there will be on the glass wall) there will never be enough to create droplets that could wet your hair.
Simple – there isn’t any! Shower steam (or more accurately – ‘moisture laden air’) is only created when the cold air in your bathroom, meets the warm moist air that your shower creates. It is ONLY when these 2 air masses mix, that steam is created.
When you fit a Showerdome® shower top, you are putting a barrier between these 2 components, and therefore NO shower steam is created.
A Showerdome® shower top is a one off expense, with no moving parts to ever replace, and requires no electricity to run.
As you don’t have cold air from your bathroom cascading over the sides of your shower – the majority of Showerdome® shower top users report that their shower is warm and cosy, and they are therefore able to reduce the water temperature at the tap.
As well at this, your bathroom maintenance costs will be significantly reduced, as paint & fixtures damage from moisture is not an issue.
In order to provide accurate measurements – follow these easy steps:-
• Stand INSIDE the shower cubicle
• Place your tape measure in the middle back corner (where the 2 walls meet)
• Measure from the corner to the inside of the framework on each side
• Ensure you advise the shower shape (square, triangle, curved)
Most importantly, read the detailed instruction booklet provided. Double check your measurements before attempting to cut the acrylic.
If the temperature is below 10 degrees Celsius, we suggest you attempt to warm the Showerdome® shower top either by standing it in the warmest room in the house, or next to an oil filled heater for some time prior to cutting.
Once ready to cut, you must ensure that what you are cutting to waste is fully supported while making the cut. If you allow the acrylic you are cutting away to hang down, it will cause feather cracks on the actual dome.
Showerdome® Limited offer both Laybuy and Afterpay as alternative payment options when ordering online at www.showerdome.co.nz. This allows you to split the purchase price into either 4 or 6 instalments.

There are a couple of options, depending on the specific size you are attempting to cover.
If there is only a small area beyond our standard 1200mm offering, we can join a ‘flat sheet’ of acrylic with an ‘H’ shaped jointer rail. The flat sheets come at 400mm wide, so can easily accommodate showers up to 1600mm.
If your shower cubicle is larger than this, in some cases, customers have opted to join 2 x Showerdome® shower tops with the H shaped ‘jointer’ rail. This can cover up to 2400mm width / length.
Apart from gathering dust on the top, it is unlikely that your Showerdome® shower top will need much cleaning. You can use a long reach feather duster to flick any dust off.
We recommend using a microfiber cloth with a standard glass cleaner if you feel the Showerdome® shower top needs a more thorough clean. Many of them have anti-static properties (like Pledge), which assist with repelling the dust from settling on the top.
Do NOT use strong cleaners, scrubbing devices or abrasives of any nature.
We recommend that after showering, you exit the shower cubicle, and CLOSE the door behind you. This stops the warm air from your shower cubicle from mixing with the cooler air in the bathroom, and causing misting on your mirror. While you are drying and dressing etc, this allows the temperature in the shower cubicle to reduce, and become more in line with the temperature in the bathroom itself.
As you are leaving the bathroom / ensuite, we recommend pushing the shower door OPEN at this point to allow air to circulate. This will ensure that the cubicle dries out, and therefore no mould or mildew will form.
