Jack Johnson hit the nail on the head with his song ‘Better Together’. Apart from being a personal favourite, and having featured at my wedding – you can’t deny that some things just work better as a duo.

- Tiny Homes & Showerdomes (it even RHYMES it’s so good!)
With the boom of the Tiny House movement across the globe, and the trend towards a more sustainable and affordable way of life, there is no way this is a passing fad.
The reasons for building ‘tiny’ are many and varied, but what consistently comes up when researching the topic is affordability & wanting to contribute to a greener future for humanity. Something we should all care deeply about.
The average cost of a tiny home build is much lower than that of a ‘standard’ home, as it uses less raw materials, and takes up a smaller land footprint. It would therefore follow that living in said tiny home inherently leads to significant savings.
You’ll spend less to heat and cool your home, as well as on general maintenance. For those 2 reasons alone, a Showerdome® shower top should be a no-brainer for every tiny home build. With everything in a tiny home being in such a close proximity – moisture reduction is a key consideration when planning.
Many tiny homes in New Zealand feature a Showerdome® shower top, and the link to the following video explains perfectly why it’s so valuable. It’s important to note that this endorsement was completely unscripted or manufactured in any way. They only way I came across it was doing research on Tiny Homes myself. What a great discovery!
While I recommend the entire episode as it’s a great design – the Showerdome® ‘shout out’ comes in at around the 10 minute mark.
“In general tiny houses are small, and it doesn’t take much to create moisture. So whenever you can eliminate it at the source, it’s best to do so – and Showerdomes do exactly that”.
We appreciate how space is at a premium when designing a tiny home, and for that reason, we’ve manufactured a ‘low-blow’ version of our small round model (R650S) specifically for the tiny house market. This lower profile dome gives all the same benefits as its big brother – and is perfect for small shower enclosures.
The 1000mm blank can be trimmed down to fit any shower cubicle 710mm or larger.
|Model: R650S||Model: R650S|
|1000mm x 1000mm blank||1000mm x 1000mm blank|
|150mm height at apex of dome||100mm height at apex of dome|
They say that the best things come in small packages – and when it comes to Showerdome® shower tops and Tiny Homes, a truer word has never been spoken.
Take it away Jack …. “yeah, it’s always better when we’re together”.
